Cover for using the vehicle in Europe Unless you ask us to extend your cover and pay any additional premium required, the cover for using the vehicle abroad is restricted to the minimum required by law; it does not include loss or damage to the vehicle, and may provide more limited cover for your liability to others. This cover is provided in the following countries: - European Union: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden and - Other European countries: Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland and - Any other country whose arrangements follow EU insurance directives and are approved by the Commission of the EU. If, before you depart and subject to our approval, you do ask us to extend your cover and you pay the additional premium and accept any additional terms we will extend this policy to cover your use of the vehicle in certain other European countries: we will advise you of the countries concerned when you contact us. We will also cover the vehicle while it is being transported by a recognised rail sea or air route (including the process of loading and unloading) between countries for which you are covered, provided such journey does not exceed 65 hours under normal circumstances. | |||

Sound Equipment If the sound equipment fitted to the vehicle is lost or damaged we will at our option either replace it with equipment to the standard normally fitted by the manufacturer or pay you what we would pay for such replacement. The most we will pay is £500 less any excess which applies. The excess for these claims will be either £100 or the Own Damage Excess, whichever is less. | |||
Accessories: We will pay for the loss of or damage to accessories of the vehicle when fitted to the vehicle (including the maker's standard tool kit and the vehicle's safety equipment) excluding trailers, any sound equipment, tools of trade, personal belongings and goods being transported. | |||

Liability to Third Parties: We will pay any amount for which the regular driver is legally liable as a result of: i) the accidental death of or injury to persons; or ii) accidental damage to property caused by or arising out of the vehicle in the United Kingdom. We will also pay for any such liability arising out of the towing of any trailer or disabled vehicle (other then for reward) in the United Kingdom. The amount payable in respect of accidental death or injury is unlimited. In no circumstances will the total amount payable in respect of loss of or damage to property (including any related indirect loss or damage) arising out of any claim or series of claims caused by one event exceed £20 million. Third Party Exclusions Liability to Third Parties cover does not insure: 1) the loss of or damage to the vehicle or any trailer or vehicle being towed; 2) any amount above £1,000,000 for damage to other people's property; 3) the loss of or damage to property, or injury to animals, belonging to or held in trust by or in the custody or control of the person responsible for the damage and who is claiming the protection of this policy; 4) the liability of any person who is entitled to equivalent protection under any other contract of insurance; 5) any liability arising from the use of the vehicle in that part of an airport or aerodrome provided for the take-off and landing of aircraft or for the movement or parking of aircraft on the ground; 6) loss or damage to any bridge, weighbridge, viaduct, road or other surface over which the vehicle is driven, or anything under the surface, caused by the weight or vibration of the vehicle or its load; 7) any loss damage or liability arising from pollution or contamination unless the pollution or contamination is directly caused by a sudden identifiable unintended and unexpected incident which occurs in its entirety in a specific time and place during the period of insurance. This exception will not apply where such cover is neccessary to meet the requirements of compulsory motor insurance legislation; 8) any liability in respect of death, injury or damage caused or arising beyond the limits of any carriageway or thoroughfare in connection with: i) the bringing of the load to the vehicle for loading thereon; or ii) the taking away of the load from the vehicle after unloading 9) any loss, damage or liability caused by pollution or contamination arising out of the seepage or spillage of the load from the vehicle or movement of the load in the vehicle; 10) any liability for acts of terrorism except as is neccessary to meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts or Orders. | |||

Employers Indemnity Extension If the vehicle does not belong to or is not hired to your employer and is insured for business use and the accident is on a road or public place as defined in the Road Traffic Acts or Orders we will pay any amount for which the employer or business partner of the regular driver becomes legally liable as a result of the use of the vehicle by any permitted driver in the course of their business or employment. Your Obligations as the Policyholder Failure to comply with any of the following conditions may invalidate your cover at our discretion. 1) You must ensure that: 1.1) the vehicle is kept in a roadworthy condition; 1.2) all reasonable steps are taken to safeguard the vehicle against loss or damage; 1.3) the vehicle is locked, any required security devices are activated and working effectively and all keys and keyless entry system devices are removed when it is unoccupied; 1.4) we are supplied with true and complete information about the vehicle and all permitted drivers and any incident of loss or damage which may involve us as your insurers; 1.5) all reasonable requests made by us are compiled with; 1.6) the police are notified within 48 hours of you or the Regular Driver becoming aware of any incident involving theft, attempted theft, or malicious damage and a crime reference number is obtained. 1.7) no costs are incurred and no admission of liability, offer or settlement is made to a third party without our consent; 1.8) the vehicle has a current MOT certificate if applicable. 2) We must be notified immediately of: 2.1) a change of address for where the vehicle is normally kept overnight (the risk address); 2.2) you or the regular driver becoming aware of any incident or loss involving the vehicle or any other incident which may lead to a claim by you or by a third party. Amending this insurance If you wish to make a change to this policy simply inform us of the change you wish to make. If we agree to the change, we will also agree on the effective date of the change and no period of notice is required Cancelling this insurance You may cancel this policy with immediate effect by notifying us by phone or by post. Our contact details can be found on the sheet marked customer information. We may cancel this policy by giving you at least 7 days notice in writing. Premiums can only be refunded if no incident has occurred which has led to a claim or may yet lead to a claim against this policy. If you return the Certificate of Motor Insurance within the first 14 days of receipt of your policy documentation we will refund that part of the premium which relates to the period remaining after we receive the Certificate. After that time the following rules apply: If either You or We cancel your Policy we will calculate the premium for the period of cover based on our short period rates in force at the time. When we receive your Certificate(s) of Motor Insurance we will refund any remaining surplus premium you have paid. If our cancellation results in the withdrawal of cover for which we have received a premium, we will refund the premium in proportion to the period of cover withdrawn provided that you return the Certificate of Motor Insurance. Notices Notices which we are required to gie you under this policy will be sent to you by post to the postal address shown in the 'Details of Cover'. The notice period will begin on the day such notice is posted. Rights Which We Reserve We are entitled to: 1) take over and conduct the defence and settlement of any claim in your name or in the name of any other person insured by this policy; 2) instigate proceedings at our own expense and for our own benefit but in your name or in the name of any other person insured by this policy to recover any payment that we have made under this policy; 3) recover from you the amount of any claim that we have made under this policy 4) pay the legal owner of the vehicle in the event of a loss; 5) require proof of ownership and value of the insured property in the event of a loss; 6) fulfil our obligation to pay for loss or damage by repair or replacement at our option. For your protection, we reserve the right to automatically renew this policy annually. If we do not receive your instructions to cancel the policy from the renewal date, we may, at our option, renew the insurance cover under this policy. You will then be liable for any premiums that fall due. You may opt out of the automatic renewal process at any time by contacting our customer services helpline. | |||
General Exclusions This policy does not insure: 1) Loss, damage, destruction, injury or liability, other than to meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts or Orders: 1.1) arising while the vehicle is being driven by any person i) not covered by your Certificate of Motor Insurance or ii) who does not hold and comply with conditions of a valid licence to drive such a vehicle in the country, and at the time, of the incident other than any holder of a foreign driver's licence valid in the UK at the time of such incident who is specifically named as a permitted driver this policy, 1.2) arising while the vehicle is being used other then for the purposes shown in your Certificate of Motor Insurance; 1.3) deliberately caused by any person entitled to indemnity under this policy or any person acting on their behalf; 1.4) arising from any incident occuring in any period in which any premium or any instalment in payment of any premium is unpaid and overdue; 1.5) caused by the radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component or of any nuclear fuel or any nuclear waste; 1.6) caused directly or indirectly by war, invasion, act of enemy, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or unsurped power; 1.7) resulting from confiscation, nationalisation, requisition or destruction of or damage to property by or under the order of any government or public or legal authority; 1.8) caused by riot or civil commotion occurring elsewhere than in England, Scotland, Wales, The Isle of man or the Channel Islands; 1.9) caused directly or indirectly by carrying hazardous goods; 1.10) caused by earthquake or subterranean fire; 1.11) occurring when the vehicle is towing (i) for reward a caravan, trailer or disabled mechanically propelled vehicle or (ii) more than one caravan, trailer or mechanically propelled vehicle at any one time; 1.12) while the vehicle is being used to carry passengers or goods in a way that is likely to affect the safe driving or control of the vehicle in respect of anyone who does not meet all the conditions of this policy; 1.13) resulting from anything sold, transported or supplied to you or on your behalf; 1.14) caused by ashes from the vehicle, or from any trailer or machinery attached to it or detached from it; 1.15) caused by or arising from the operation of the vehicle (or of plant forming part of the vehicle or attached to it) as a tool of trade; 2) Liability arising from any agreement or contract unless that liability would have existed otherwise; 3) Consequential loss other than that which may arise under Liability to Third Parties. | |||
