Customers 'Gutted' Following Wrapit Closure

Wedding gift firm Wrapit has entered administration after six years of trading - putting 2,000 couples at risk of losing out financially.

Accountants KPMG have now been called in to wind up the business, which provided gift services to around 3,000 couples each year. According to Jane Moriaty at KPMG Restructuring, a buyer for the firm is now being looked for.

Around £3.5 million is currently owed by Wrapit to HSBC - its biggest outstanding debt, the BBC reports.

While it's estimated that the newlyweds and guests that used the site will face a combined loss of up to £700,000 worth of gifts there is hope for some.  All of those who made purchases with the firm using a credit card or Visa debit card will have the full amount refunded.  Those who paid by cheque or Switch or Maestro cards however will unfortunately lose out.

Speaking to the broadcaster, Wrapit customers Travers and Ciara Barr said that they were "gutted" at the closure, which means that they will not receive the £700 of wedding gifts they ordered from the firm. "All our guests bought things that would've had sentimental value," Mrs Barr added.

Danika and David Barber have also missed out, sending their gift list off just over a week before Wrapit entered administration. "We're so upset that our guests have wasted their hard earned money, and we're left with none of the reminders we thought we would have over years to come," they said.
