Barclays Denies Goldfish Rumours
Barclays has responded to speculation over the future of its Goldfish credit card business.
The loss-making card provider was recently acquired by the firm from Discover Financial Services - and now operates as part of Barclaycard.
Recently, there has been press speculation that the Goldfish rewards scheme would be "scrapped" as Barclays integrates the firm - a process which is scheduled to be completed later in the year.
However, Barclaycard's managing director of UK cards, Amer Sajed, said: "We will have a strong rewards programme for Goldfish customers as part of our integration plans.
He added: "To suggest otherwise is completely wrong. We will provide final details to customers in the summer."
Earlier this month, Barclays closed the Goldfish call centre in Cumbernauld, Scotland, with the card provider's customer queries and complaints now handled by the bank's own staff.
This resulted in the loss of around 900 jobs, Reuters reports.
