Find out where to get the best value Valentines flowers for your loved one if you've left buying treats to the last minute.
It’s the thought that counts
If you’d like to treat your Valentine to a bunch of classic red roses but don’t want to break the bank your local supermarket is likely to be your best bet with the four big chains offering astonishingly cheap bouquets for you to give the one you love.
Morrisons are the cheapest offering bouquets for a mere £2.50, while ASDA sit in a close second with a dozen reds for £3. Tescos (£4) and Sainsburys (£4.99) have also followed suit with cheap bouquets to get you through the door.
Each of these supermarkets are also offering discounts on chocolates, champagne and teddy bears (if you like that kind of thing) too so if you’ve left it to the last minute they have everything to make your Valentine happy in one fell swoop.
However, a word of caution – while looking after the pennies is important even on special occasions your Valentine may not take quite the same view when you hand him/her gifts in a supermarket carrier bag so for maximum brownie points a bit of nifty rewrapping is recommended.
Impression making flowers
If you’re looking to spend that little bit extra, couriered flowers are still available but you’ll have to get your order in quickly if you want your bouquet to arrive tomorrow.
Roses Only offer a selection of stunning but not so bargainous blooms. Their flowers are ideal if you really want to push the boat out and each of their statement making rose bouquets include a complimentary box of Lindt chocolates and a scented candle to help make your Valentine feel extra special.
Next, Teleflorist and Flowers Direct are other good options for beautiful couriered flowers if you want to spend that bit extra.
Valentines for the ethically minded
If you want to go green this Valentines day you could shun the over-marketed red rose tradition in favour of a beautiful bunch of seasonal, ethically produced flowers. Freesias, hyacinths, irises and tulips are all blooms currently in season and will still make for a lavish gesture.
Arena Flowers are your best bet if you’re looking to give your love a bouquet that’s kind to the environment and to the growers that produced the flowers. What's more you don't have to compromise on style as they offer an original selection of breathtaking bouquets (including roses for the traditionalist) available for delivery tomorrow.
If you’re looking for a longer lasting gift, a beautifully wrapped potted plant is a good option as your Valentine will be able to enjoy the thoughtful gift throughout the year.
